We are pleased to share new testing data released by Sinerga for two of their skin and hair care actives, Azeloglicina® and Trealix®. The new data highlights how these two multifunctional ingredients continue to prove their value.

Whether you’ve been formulating with Azeloglicina® and Trealix® for years, or they’re brand new to you, you’ll find all the key details about both, including the new data released from Sinerga, in this blog post.

Azeloglicina® – Brightening, Balancing, Protecting

Azeloglicina® is a patented compound of azelaic acid and glycine. It is a stable, water-soluble, non-irritating active that delivers the benefits of azelaic acid while providing added moisturisation and elasticity, as well as enhancing skin tolerance.

Azeloglicina® helps to regulate sebum, improve skin radiance, prevent and correct hyperpigmentation of different origins, and soothe irritation. It also supports scalp and hair health by inhibiting 5α-reductase and reducing inflammatory markers linked to hair loss.

New testing data

Highlights from Sinerga’s recent testing of Azeloglicina® include:

  • Tyrosinase inhibition: Up to 89% inhibition within minutes, confirming its strong depigmenting power.
  • Sebum normalisation: Up to -31% reduction in sebum levels on the T-zone after three weeks.
  • In vivo radiance: Significant improvements in skin brightness across Caucasian and Asian volunteers, outperforming benchmarks like kojic acid and arbutin.
  • Dark spot reduction: Visible improvements in UV-induced, age-related, post-acne, and melasma-related hyperpigmentation in as little as four weeks.
  • Hydration and elasticity: Measurable increases in both parameters, supporting a plumper, smoother complexion.
  • Hair loss relevance: Inhibition of 5α-reductase expression (-53%) and DHT production, as well as anti-inflammatory effects through IL-1α reduction.

Key applications

  • Dark spot and radiance treatments
  • Anti-acne and oily skin care
  • Anti-aging products for mature greasy skin
  • Illuminating primers and multifunctional make-up
  • Anti-hair loss scalp care

Trealix® – Complete Hydration & Cellular Health

Trealix® is a complete hydrating and regenerating ingredient for skin, scalp and hair, combining trehalose (the ‘sugar of life’) with hydrolysed vegetable proteins to offer both humectant and barrier-supporting properties. It works in two ways:

  1. Boosting water content inside skin and hair.
  2. Reducing trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) with a film-forming effect.

Trealix® also promotes autophagy, a natural cellular recycling process that declines with age, helping to preserve healthy cell function. It is COSMOS-approved and preservative free, with a Natural Origin Index of 1.

New testing data

Highlights from Sinerga’s recent testing of Trealix® include:

  • Instant hydration: +17% skin hydration in just one minute, with effects lasting at least an hour.
  • Long-lasting results: +65% skin hydration after four weeks, with benefits persisting up to six days after stopping use.
  • Barrier repair: Up to -15% TEWL reduction, demonstrating a strong film-forming effect.
  • Hydration in rinse-off: Increases water content (+16%) and reduces TEWL (-7%) even in cleansing formulations.
  • Hair hydration: Improves water content by +12.5% after four leave-on applications.
  • Benchmark comparisons: Significantly more effective than other market hydrating agents.

Key applications for Trealix®

  • Face and body moisturisers
  • Revitalising creams for dry, reddened, or stressed skin
  • Scalp serums, essences, and masks
  • Shampoos and conditioners
  • Cleansers with added hydration
