Omya Cosmospheres® are a range of cellulose based beads built for personal care formulations. The range includes Soft Beads, designed for visual appeal and active ingredient delivery, and the newly launched Exfoliating Beads. With brands starting to move away from harsh synthetic scrubs towards ingredients that are kinder to skin and to the planet, the Exfoliating Beads are the latest addition to the Omya Cosmospheres® range to help meet that need.
New: Exfoliating Beads
Omya Cosmospheres® Exfoliating Beads are designed for scrub and cleansing formulations. With a hard shell made from 100% microcrystalline cellulose, they help to buff away dead skin cells whilst remaining gentle enough for everyday use. As a standard they come in three colours (white, blue and brown), and the composition and size can be customized*, giving formulators flexibility to create products that perform and tell a compelling visual story. And just as importantly, they’re completely free from microplastics, a factor that’s increasingly crucial to help protect the planet from further plastic pollution. *MOQ applicable.
The Exfoliating Beads are vegan with COSMOS-approved options available. For brands building a clean beauty or eco-conscious positioning, they offer a great alternative to synthetic scrub particles without any compromise on performance.
Omya Cosmospheres® Exfoliating Beads are stable in both water-based and anhydrous systems. With two size options available, the smaller grade is suited to delicate facial formulations whilst the larger provides a more effective exfoliation for body products, giving formulators the flexibility to develop across different product types.
Technical Specifications
Omya Cosmospheres® Exfoliating Beads should be incorporated at the end of the manufacturing process at moderate temperature with slow stirring. Recommended dosage is 0.5 to 10% depending on desired exfoliation strength. Storage should be cool, dry and protected from light, ideally between 5 and 25°C.
Standard grades are available in the following options:
- Three colours: white, blue and brown
- Two particle sizes: Small (0.250 mm) for facial applications and Medium (0.5 mm) for body
- Vegan formulations and COSMOS-approved options available
